The Compute Server is a UNIX system which serves as a computation platform for programs such as SAS. The system is open to faculty, staff, and graduate students at the UConn who need access to such a platform. Instructional accounts are available for courses requiring access to computational programs or the UNIX command-line. NO WEB SERVICES are available on this platform, ONLY command-line and X-client access is available on this platform.
The operating system is currently AIX Version 5.2 UNIX operating system on RS/6000 platform. This means that only software that is capable of running on an RS/6000 platform will work on this system. AIX supports the three most common UNIX shells, ksh, csh, and bsh.
